Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the opening of new pro bono matters in firm systems and databases including supporting the conflicts process for new matter intake, monitoring conflicts processes after submission, and assisting with engagement letters and other documents necessary for conflicts clearance.
  • Facilitate communication with case handling teams and Pro Bono Referral Agencies regarding conflicts process and clearance.
  • Oversee departmental audits and internal pro bono reporting, and coordinate with multiple internal teams to monitor and track pro bono case statuses, budgets, and hours.
  • Oversee pro bono, community service, and sustainability events including but not limited to making room reservations, distributing invitations, tracking RSVPs, ordering food/beverage, and compiling evaluations.
  • Initiate event marketing efforts and work with communications staff to monitor deadlines for deliverables.
  • With the Director, support attorneys throughout the life of each pro bono matter by, for example, finding appropriate pro bono projects for individuals, responding to requests for interpreters and translators, providing substantive resources, and assisting in communication with pro bono clients and Pro Bono Referral Agencies.
  • Independently develop and manage certain pro bono and social responsibility programming and partnerships.
  • Prepare and process all accounting for the pro bono & social responsibility department by properly submitting to the firm’s online accounting systems, in a timely manner.
  • Oversee, track, and process pro bono and charitable external sponsorships including invitations, correspondence with external organizations, and invoice processing.

The Successful Candidate

  • Minimum of 2 years’ related professional experience, preferably in a law firm pro bono or legal services setting.
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience supporting high-level attorneys/executives and the ability to responsibly handle confidential information.
  • The ability to effectively manage/coordinate simultaneous projects, successfully prioritize multiple tasks with good judgment, and work well under pressure while focusing on details
  • Ability to identify issues and problems and recommend and implement solutions. May exercise considerable judgment and discretion in completing assignments.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
  • This is a hybrid role requiring the ability to commute into one of our office locations on occasion.
