Reporting to the Director, Responsible Business, you will play a pivotal role in building and driving KWM’s pro bono legal services practice. This position is integral to our commitment to addressing unmet legal need and contributing to a fairer and more sustainable future as part of the Community pillar of KWM’s Responsible Business Blueprint.

Key Responsibilities

With flexibility to be based in any KWM office nationally, key responsibilities will cover:

  • Strategic Leadership
  • Engagement & Collaboration
  • Priority Projects

As a further senior lawyer in the team and reporting to the Director of Responsible Business, you will lead on high impact pro bono projects, and be responsible for managing client relationships, identifying risks and opportunities, and ensuring that our pro bono practice is targeted, responsive and best practice.

The Successful Candidate

The position requires someone with substantial pro bono experience, particularly in practice management, as well as large-scale, structural, projects that align with where our practice has evolved over the past five years.

As a networker and relationship builder, you will help increase the firm’s expertise and networks within the legal assistance sector, identifying and developing new, high-impact projects that reflect our strategic direction – To achieve that takes drive, knowledge, maturity and experience that will be valued and rewarded.

You will also need:

  • Strong legal background with experience in pro bono, public interest and social impact law.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple programs and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a collaborative and inclusive approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills to engage stakeholders across all levels.
  • Passionate about social justice and using the law as a tool for positive change.
  • Minimum 8 years PQE, with experience in pro bono work or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of the legal landscape, including pro bono frameworks and best practices.
  • Proven track record of working on high-impact legal projects or in a social justice role.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence key stakeholders.
  • Project management and time management skills.
  • Capacity to multi-task and a flexible, proactive attitude.
