Morgan Lewis has a deep commitment to Pro Bono work.  Each year, 100% of our lawyers meet our 20-Hour Pro Bono Challenge, and we represent over 2,000 pro bono clients annually. Reporting to the Senior Pro Bono Counsel and working closely with the Pro Bono Team and the Office Pro Bono Committees, the Temporary Pro Bono Coordinator will help manage the firm’s Pro Bono Program.

This position will reside in the Washington DC office and a hybrid working schedule is available. This temporary assignment is expected to last a minimum of 6 months, but could extend to 10 months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help monitor pro bono cases.

  • Respond to requests from legal services organizations and pro bono clients for valuations of pro bono service and case status updates.

  • Secure status report from departing attorneys on all open pro bono matters in which they have billed time or served in a supervisory role.

  • Monitor, analyze and help distribute internal reports on pro bono participation and completion of the firm’s “Pro Bono Challenge.”

  • Assist Office Pro Bono Committees to coordinate and execute pro bono events including clinics and trainings.

  • Maintain list of pro bono partnerships with corporate clients.

  • Assist with internal and external marketing efforts, including drafting write-ups of pro bono matters, updating pro bono section of firm website with timely information, maintaining current list of pro bono awards, and drafting annual report.

  • Carry out administrative tasks associated with organizing annual Community Impact Week, including working directly with Information Technology to create event specific website.

  • Provide general administrative assistance, as needed, to the Pro Bono Team.

The Successful Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of administrative experience in a professional services setting. The equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Must possess/demonstrate high proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and database use.

  • Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills paired with a service-oriented attitude.

  • Excellent judgment, including sensitivity to confidential information.

  • Strong organization skills with a focus on attention to detail, problem solving and the ability to multitask.

  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills, including ability to tailor written work product to appropriate audience.

  • Demonstrated resourcefulness, creativity, and self-directed behavior.

  • Established project management skills and program design experience.
